Scattered Mind

     It's been awhile since I have posted anything on my blog so I thought I would do a quick update on somethings I have been working on.
     Things have been kind of crazy here at home with the kids off for summer vacation and some concerns that have had my attention and pulled me away from my pen and paper, but everything has turned out for the best and now I can refocus on my writing once again.
     First off I have entered Blizzard's annual writing contest with a fanfic short story involving my wife and my own characters and their journeys through the fantastical Warcraft universe.  We have been playing for over five years now and that wonderful world has told us many incredible tales that are begging to be shared.  I will be posting the short, Forsaken, here in the future.
      Progress on my second novel, the sequel to Ascent of the Holy Blade, is inching forward at a snail's pace unfortunately, and I have just finished the first chapter of the tale.  Hopefully as things have settled down here at the homefront I will be able to increase my rate of progress and the manuscript will be completed by early spring.
     Lastly, the weeks tick down as I wait to hear from the literary agent I submitted Ascent of the Holy Blade to respond.  Six more weeks and it will mean she has passed over my manuscript, but that's okay as more and more the idea of self-publishing with 2 Moon Publishing becomes more appealing.  If it comes down to it I will talk more at length when I make that decision.  Obviously being put into print in the traditional style would be great, but the more I research self-publishing with 2 Moon Publishing the more the idea appeals to me.
     Fall is coming and with it a flurry of creative energy rides the changing seasons  spinning colorful tales in the corridors of my mind and with any luck I will transfer those ideas, heroes,villains, and worlds into digital pixels for all to enjoy.

Time...it slips through my fingers

  Well I had hoped to have a new short story posted this weekend, but with working overtime, yard work, and trying to defeat a very persistent weed assault in our garden time has gotten away from me.  I have about half of the short titled Who I am, Ox's Tale entered into the computer.
  If all goes well I should have it posted no later than Wednesday morning.  The story itself is derived from one of the characters in my novel Ascent of the Holy Blade.  Who I am gives a small view into the troubled past of  Oxuberoth Saktasorath (Ox), a once prideful bodyguard to royalty and now soul-tortured gladiator.

My Thoughts

     I wrote Time to Pay the Piper back in the spring of 2000.  I had been injured at work and was stuck answering phones for a couple of weeks and the idea for this particular short had been bouncing around in my head for a few years.  So on a rather slow day I spent a couple of hours between calls writing and this was the result.
     Then idea itself was inspired by a couple of friends I had growing up that found it rather amusing to torture small animals, a hobby I just couldn't get my head around.  So I thought that would be ironic if people like that had to go through the same cruelties themselves that they inflicted except that the punishers would be the animals themselves doing the payback.  Time to Pay the Piper was the ensuing result, hope you enjoy it.

What the Future Holds

     My hope is to regularly post updates on my adventure in getting my manuscript, Ascent of the Holy Blade, published and to post various stories I have written. 
    My first step on said journey will be finishing my  submission email to an agent in San Francisco and eight weeks from now I will have my first rejection and be considered a true aspiring author.  lol.
